To take away some of the headaches and hassle often associated with starting up a new business, Scarborough Borough Council, Market Service offers you EASY IN, EASY OUT terms of letting.  We have eliminated the risks involved by you signing long leases.

  • Simple and uncomplicated 4 WEEK LICENCE 

  • so if you find that for whatever reason you cannot continue to trade, you only need to give 4 weeks notice (determinable after 4 weeks trading).

There are two trading levels at Scarborough Market

  • MARKET HALL  - on the ground floor you will find a traditional market hall selling goods such as meat, fruit, vegetables, cards, clothing, fancy goods, etc.

  • Rents in the market hall start from as little as £35 per week.

  • Business rates are included in the stall rent.

  • Only other costs are for electricity.

  • MARKET VAULTS - below the main market you will find over 50 shop units (approx. 120sqft) which predominantly trade in antiques, arts, crafts and specialist products and services.

  • All the shops in the Vaults are secure lockable units

  • Majority of these shops are £35 per week for a single unit, £60 per week for a double unit and £90 per week for a treble unit.

  • Rent includes electricity in majority of units.

  • Business rates included in all units.

The Market Hall and vaults are open Monday to Saturday, 8.00am - 5.00pm.

  • Market Hall units are required to open for trade 6 days per week

  • Market Vault units are required to open for trade for a minimum of 5 days per week (Thurs, Fri, Sat + 2 others Mon-Wed).

  • All traders are required to obtain Third Party Public Liability Insurance, which may be obtained from the National Market Traders Federation (tel: 0800 592225 or online at www.nmtf.co.uk) at reasonable rates.
